Fishing is the most wonderful thing I do in my life,  barring some equally delightful

unmentionables, and not counting gluttony and booze.  It's in the top Five.

 In Memeory of John Ramey

He came into this world as a baby and left 3/10/03  with fly rod in hand to chase the elusive cloud~bow a fish that no one on earth has ever seen yet we  all one day will have the honor to chase.  In the last year I know in my heart that he is now Heavens river keeper and master angler.  John was not only a great flyfisherman  but also a great boss, friend, father and hero.  John inspired me to always have a sense of humor and to follow my dreams.  He also taught his kids to flyfish and build fly rods.

The glowing light of late afternoon, the scent of winter wood, the sound of water - each is complete in itself.  But they are pieces,  too, of a larger whole.   Few elements of this whole we call nature bring us into more intimate contact with it's beauty,  with our wonder, than the creature we call trout or the activity we call angling.  To see the glow, to smell the wood, to hear the water - to feel the heft of a good fish - is to be alive.
Know one knew this better or appreciated it more than John.

John always gave me a reason to get out of bed Monday mornings. He made going to work very enjoyable.  of coarse it was probably due too the fishing report and his personal adventures of fishing for the elusive browns, alone or with Kerrie,  Brent or his bride Patty. He would always know every detail of what was happening on the Lower Provo river.  The reports and stories he would weave into believable vivid pictures giving me the feeling I was there standing next to him knee deep in the river watching and casting too rising trout.

I will miss the days he would call me into his office and have me close the door.  He would then pull out his fly-box or film canister and pour several new patterns out on to his desk. they were All flies he had tied the night before.  We would then critique his work and we would talk about how and where too fish them.   I was always amazed at how fast his knowledge grew about fly fishing and fly tying.  He mastered it in a few short years,  were it takes others their entire life time to just learn how too cast. His enthusiasm about Fly fishing was contagious and he was always willing too share his knowledge, give pointers or tell a few fishing stories about a large fish he had caught and released or was it the one that had gotten away.  I forget how the story really goes.  My most fond memory was the day John came too work with a huge grin from ear to ear.  As I walked into his office I could see the excitement in his eyes.  I knew something was up before I could even sit down, He started too tell me about "His first fish"   He had caught and released on a fly rod over the weekend and how he had used one of the flies that I had tied for him as a Christmas gift.  The feeling of excitement overwhelmed me as I watched John change that day from a fisherman to a FLY FISHERMAN.

John I will never forget the look in your eyes that day.  You will be in my thoughts and  my heart everyday and every time  I cast  A DRY FLY TO A RISING TROUT.  I will miss you and all the conversations about the perfect fly, the perfect riffle and the one that got away.  All the fatherly advise and the help, hints, tips and guidance  you had given me too be a better person, manager and fisherman.

THANK YOU. Tight lines & keep the felt wet.
